Dear Auntie Bridie, John, Bill and family,
When you think of Uncle Ben you remember those firm handshakes and even firmer hugs. I will always remember with fondest the Summer I spent in Athea with the Brodericks. I was little older than my own son Jack but I recall coming back from a day spent visiting relations. I pretended to be asleep so Uncle Ben would lift me from the car to my bed. I am sure he knew I was awake but he never said anything. That was the man who we will miss. So sorry I was not able to be there in person to say goodbye but we remember all of you in our prayers

Dear Auntie Bridie, John, Billy and families. We are very saddened and shocked to hear about the passing of Uncle Ben. Both Niall and I will never forget our visits up to you guys in Bronxville. We both loved hearing the stories about how you met and Ben's stories from the Firebrigade. It was always a highlight of our trips to New York. His kind thoughts and gestures will be remembered and passed on for generations! Sorry we couldn't be there with you on Thursday however we hope to see you all over the weekend. Siobhan and Niall. xx

Dearest Aunt Bridie, John, Billy and families.
Like everyone else I'm shocked and saddened at the loss of a great man. I remember Uncle Ben as being so generous with his time and always giving encouragement and guidance if needed. Unfortunately due to the suddeness of his passing, I couldn't make it over there in person today to share your grief but you were all in my thoughts. I'm sure he will get the send off he deserves and the memories you all have will help you through this sad time.
I am so proud to have known him and even more proud to call him "Uncle".

Rest in Peace Uncle Ben. Our loss is Heavens gain.

Bridie, John B, Billy and all our cousins
Our thoughts are with you as we all mourn the loss of our much loved Uncle Ben. He has given us alot of memories from our childhood when all the Broderick clan would get together and again in recent years when we visited as a family. Thinking of you all and wishing we could be with you at this sad time.

Dear Auntie Bridie, John, Bill and families
It's hard to believe that his words of wisdom and comfort will no longer be heard. That said they have been heard by so many that they will live on for generations to come as many of his nephews and nieces try to raise our own kids. I will miss the smile and the strong hug of welcome not to mention his thoughts on US politics! At dheis De go raibh a anam.

Bridie and Boys and Family

What a total shock. I am so sorry. You are all in our thoughts here in Dublin. My mind has been spinning all day with memories of how much fun it was to spend time with Ben. How kind and thoughtful Ben was to me and how he was always there with a wise word of advice when I lived in the US. I can still remember hanging out with him in the fire house in the Bronx - his second home at the time. May he rest in peace. John
