JOAN HART Obituary

Joan Hart, of Chappaqua, NY, died at home September 5, 2007, she was 79. Joan was born in Trenton, NJ on September 29, 1927, the daughter of John and Catherine (Havercorn) McKee. She married Edward J. Hart in Trenton, NJ on October 21, 1950. Joan has been a resident of Chappaqua since 1966, where she was very active in the community. She was a leader in the local Democratic Party, a Union activist, a supporter of the Northern Westchester Shelter, Inc., active in Chappaqua Swim & Tennis Club, Volunteered at Northern Westchester Hospital. She was a long time active parishioner of the Church of St. John & St. Mary, where she worked in their Outreach Program. She worked for 25 years as a secretary at Roaring Brook School in Chappaqua. Joan is survived by her wonderful husband, Edward of Chappaqua; her devoted children, Roxanne (Philip Casnoff) Hart of Los Angeles, CA, Tim (Cathy), Nancy (James) Sherrard, of Baldenboro, NC, Christopher (Peggy) Hart of Wolfeboro, NH, and Barbara (Joseph Slakas) Hart of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, her loving brother, James McKee and her adoring grandchildren, Shannon, Daniel, Catherine, Marly, Alex, Mollie, Macklin, Sam, Ian, and Bridget. Her brothers, Jack and Bill McKee predeceased her. Visiting hours Friday (today) 4-8 PM at Beecher Funeral Home, Pleasantville. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, 10 AM, Upper Church, St. John & St. Mary, Chappaqua, NY. Burial, Fair Ridge Cemetery, Chappaqua, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations to Church of St. John & St. Mary Outreach Program, 30 Poillon Dr., Chappaqua, NY 10514, Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 453, Chappaqua, NY 10514 or The Northern Westchester Shelter, Inc., P.O. Box 203, Pleasantville, NY 10570 would be appreciated.
