JOAN TRAVIS Obituary

Joan Angela Travis, a fifty year resident of Yorktown, passed away on January 6, 2010. She was 69. Ms. Travis was born in 1940, in Bronx, NY, to Frank and Florence Sofo. She graduated from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, NY, in 1958. Ms. Travis worked as a Medical Biller for 20 years before retiring in 2009. In 1968, she married Morton Travis at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights, NY. Ms. Travis will be remembered for her special meals and cookies for all the Holidays. She is survived by her two sons, Scott (Joanna) Travis and Douglas (Donna) Travis; four grandchildren Maria Travis, Christopher Travis, William Travis and Ty Travis. She is also survived by her sister Lorraine (Peter) Simone and her brother Frank (Donna) Sofo. Also surviving Ms. Travis are her step-daughter Kathy (George) Liaskos, three stepgrandchildren Evan, Irene and Christina Liaskos and step-greatgranddaughter Alexis Liaskos. Calling hours are Friday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9pm at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights. The Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, 11am, at Old St. Patrick's Stone Church in Yorktown Heights. Interment will follow at Amawalk Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Westchester.
