Rosalie Iorio Obituary

Rosalie C. Iorio

"It's a great life if you don't weaken"

Greenwich, CT - Rosalie C. Iorio, 103, longtime resident of Eastchester, New York and Palm Harbor, Florida passed away peacefully on April 23, 2020.

Born September 20, 1916 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to the late Vincent and Stefanie Pasqualetto. On July 21, 1945 she married the love of her life Vincent E. Iorio at St. Anthony's Church in Woonsocket. Vincent who predeceased her in 1972 was head of Iorio Construction Company, Inc. in New York who built many churches, schools, hospitals and office buildings in the metropolitain area. Rosalie was forever proud of his accomplishments and his success.

In 1985, she moved to Palm Harbor, Florida and would spend summers and Christmas with her family in New York. She made many new friends in Florida and they enjoyed her many dinner parties. For years she enjoyed playing those early morning rounds of golf and took up ceramics while there and would delight her family with her many handmade keepsakes. She also enjoyed bowling and although she was older than most of her friends, she would remarkably find a way to win one for the team! In her spare time, you would find her by her sewing machine creating outfits for herself and years ago for her daughter. As years went by while living in Florida, Rosalie was blessed to have had such devoted and kind friends who helped her everyday.

Rosalie will be remembered for her grand entertaining, elegant table settings and food presentation, and most of all, her warm and loving hospitality. Her love for cooking and baking made everyday meals feel like Sunday and Sunday meals feel like a holiday. During the holidays her home felt like a bakery with her many tins of Christmas cookies, which she would lovingly send to family and friends.

Rosalie was a devoted and loving Mother who cherished her family. She will be forever and deeply missed. Surviving her, she leaves behind her son Vincent and wife Joan and her daughter Elizabeth and husband John, her five grandchildren, Shannon, Katheryn, Melissa, Michael and Timothy, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in New York and Florida. In addition to her beloved husband Vincent she is predeceased by her sister Rita and brothers Guy and Pat.

A memorial celebration of Rosalie's life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosalie's memory to Greenwich Woods Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 1165 King Street, Greenwich, CT 06831.

Rosalie was truly "one of a kind"...such an elegant lady. It was such fun living across the street in our Bronxville Manor houses which were exactly opposite each other. I am so thankful that her daughter, Liz, and husband, John, reside in the house. It made me feel like she never moved to Florida. So many great memories in the past 40 years. She may be gone from the earth but will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Rosalie.
Love,
Rosary Forlani

Rosalie will be fondly remembered for her tremendous spirit, excellent cooking, warm hospitality, and her zest for life. She was always the life of the party but my husband and I will forever remember her at our wedding in 2008. She arrived looking radiant in her favorite color pink and she kept our guests entertained as she danced the night away and even caught the bouquet. Those who had the pleasure of spending time with her will never forget her. Rest in peace beautiful lady.
