Thomas C. Broderick, M.D. died peacefully on November 27, 2003 in Plainview, NY. Born in Yonkers, NY on August 15, 1915, the son of John and Margaret (Mullen) Broderick. Dr. Broderick remained a resident of Yonkers until 1975 and, thereafter, a resident of Hastings-on-Hudson until his recent move to East Meadow, NY in 2002. Dr., Broderick was graduated from Gorton High School, Manhattan College and Georgetown University School of Medicine. A retired Captain in the United States Army, he served in World War II in the South Pacific Theatre with the 24th Infantry Division. After the war,he served his residency at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City where he met and married, on June 27, 1946, his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Louise Rosini, who survives. He had a private medical practice in Yonkers for many years serving as the Director of Surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital. Thereafter, he was an attending physician at the FDR Veteran's Hospital, Montrose, NY, and a professor of surgery at New York Medical College. He also served for many years as a Deputy Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Health. In 1970 he was the Grand Marshal of the Yonkers Saint Patrick's Day Parade. He was a member of the American Legion Alan F. Waite Post No. 299 and was a former member of the Amackassin Club, Yonkers, NY. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his nine children Mary, Margaret (Steve Panama), Thomas, Jr. (Joan), John (Dore), Anne, Brian (Laurie), Monica (Richard Guardino), Michael (Amy), Jean, and his ten grandchildren, Adeana Shendal, Thomas "Spike" III, Emily, Luke Cahill, Ian Cahill, Conor, Haley, Mary Michelle Guardino, and the recently born twins, Myles and Declan. Three brothers and two sisters predeceased him. Friends may call at the Hastings Funeral Home, 15 Spring Street, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY on Tuesday, December 2, 2003. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart, Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yonkers, NY.
