Cynthia Kaser Obituary

Cynthia Elizabeth Kaser, loving mother, sister, aunt and wife, passed away peacefully at home in Ashburn, Virginia on April 26, 2025.

Cindy was born on November 4th, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1976 and attended the University of Central Missouri before starting her career in the airline industry. Cindy worked at Braniff Airlines in Kansas City before moving to Northern Virginia and becoming a pricing analyst at Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCO), where she stayed for over 20 years. She then worked as a Personnel Security Analyst for various government contractors before her final years with the U.S. Department of Interior.

Cindy brought light and joy into every room. She unequivocally spoke her mind, loved fiercely, laughed often, and her humor, often laced with sarcasm, was infectious. If you knew her even briefly, you knew she was a passionate lover of sports and lifelong Kansas City Chiefs football and Kansas City Royals baseball fan, and more recently, a San Antonio Spurs basketball fan. She also grew up roller skating and continued as an adult, successfully competing in regional competitions into her early 30s. Cindy devoted her time to support her daughters and was deeply involved in the volleyball (Chelsea) and dance (Emily) communities. She loved nothing more than seeing her girls grow up into who they are today. Cindy was an incredible mother, wife and friend. She is deeply missed and will forever be fondly remembered by her friends and family.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Elizabeth Bolen. She is survived by her loving husband Tom of 34 years, daughters Chelsea and her husband Jack (Alexandria, VA) and Emily (Arlington, VA), sister Debbe Cantlin and brother-in-law Rex Cantlin, and her niece, Rachel Smith, husband Garrett Smith and their daughter, Camdyn.

Cindy did not wish to have traditional funeral services and instead, asked those who cared for her to donate to a cause she truly supported. In lieu of flowers, and as much as Cindy loved and advocated for rescued animals, please make a donation in her name to the Friends of Homeless Animals Shelter (https://foha.org/) in Aldie, VA.

So sad to hear this. I worked with Cindy at CACI and she could make anyone laugh. She always spoke so fondly of her family and how much she loved her daughters. She was quite literally a joy to be around.

I used to work with Cindy at ATP. She always spoke her mind and made me laugh. I loved working with Cindy she made the time go by fast. Even when we were busy and swamped we would just work hard together and she would crack jokes so we could get through the day. Cindy loved to talk about her girls and Tom. I know she loved her family very much. She was a good friend and my Thai buddy for lunch many times. Sending my condolences and lots of love to Tom and your daughters at this time. I hope you find support in remembering the good times to get you through the days ahead.

Cindy, it was no secret that we didn´t see eye to eye on some topics but we tried to not let that affect our friendship. You were supportive to me both professionally and personally and I can never express how much knowing you and working with you meant to me. Your sarcastic humor and laughter are very much missed. I just wish I could have said goodbye to you.

To Cindy´s family, she was so incredibly proud of both Chelsea and Emily and loved to talk about what they have achieved. She loved Tom immensely and often bragged about his skill and devotion to his lawn care. She always spoke highly of Rachael and relied on her expertise and knowledge of all things medical. One thing was certain, the love she had for all of you and her pride in her family was something she held close to her heart. I am so sorry for this loss on so many levels.

May you find comfort and solace in this sorrowful time.

My heart aches for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Cindy at both CACI and State. She was an absolute delight, and always brought humor to the workplace. Most importantly, she shared her boundless love for her family, and her constant pride, her daughters. She was always willing to lend an ear, and offer parenting advice, which I still follow today. May you always feel her sunshine!
