David Davis Obituary

David S. Davis

Louisville - David S. Davis, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and son. The Louisville native was born on November 21, 1944, to Jeanette and Charles Davis.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, of 47 years, Vicki Davis; son Michael Davis (Cara) of Pasadena, California; grandchildren Miriam Davis and Dexter Davis of Pasadena, California; mother, Jeanette Bornstein; sister, Helaine Workman (Dr. Frank) of Washington D.C., his two nieces and two nephews, and the countless friends who David loved as family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Davis, and his step-father Abe Bornstein.

David was a graduate of Seneca High School, attended The University of Cincinnati, and graduated from The University of Louisville. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was Honorably Discharged in 1973 as Hospital Corpsman First Class, U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. In 1971, David received his Juris Doctor from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at The University of Louisville. He was a general practice attorney for 50 years and always said that he practiced law from A to Z - adoption to zoning cases. For 15 years, he served as a Guardian Ad Litem in Family Court, where he represented the best interests and provided legal representation for children. He helped numerous families in need.

David was a kind and gentle soul who made friends so easily. He lived life to the fullest despite being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease for the last 16 years of his life. He enjoyed traveling, art and design, photography, entertaining, dining out with friends, and spending quality time with family.

He was a member of The Temple-Congregation Adath Israel Brith Sholom and The Kentucky Bar Association.

Due to the pandemic, funeral services and burial were held privately on Friday, February 19, 2021, at The Temple Cemetery. A private memorial service will be held via Zoom.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions, in David's memory, to The Temple - Congregation Adath Israel Brith Sholom

We are truly shocked and saddened by David´s passing; condolences and sympathy go out to Vicky, Michael and the rest of the family. A friend and colleague for over 40 years until his recent retirement, he was already missed but knowing he is really gone, we are taken aback. Perhaps he and Stanley are already having one of their famous discussions and we hope you have your Dremel with you! RIP my friend
