WESTFORD -- Mr. Alexander D. "Alex" Vasilevsky of Westford, entered into rest in Boston, August 8, 2010 after a lengthy illness, aged 48 years. Alex was the beloved husband of Robin (Fetzer) Vasilevsky with whom he would have celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary this September 11th.
Born in Odessa, Ukraine, August 25th, 1961 he was the son of David and Stella (Belfer) Vasilevsky and moved to the United States as a young boy, settling in Manlius New York, where he received his early education and was a graduate of James Dewitt High School with the Class of 1979. He matriculated to Syracuse University, earning a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering. Alex furthered his education at Boston University with a Masters in Electrical Engineering. Alex began his career as a software engineer at Data General after college and applied his engineering skills at such companies as Thinking Machines, Avid Technologies, Ucentric Systems until 1994 when he started Virtual Iron in Lowell and then Virtual Computer of Westford. Alexander put his heart and soul into his work, however it was his family that he treasured, spending time with his wife Robin and their three children. He was an "awesome Dad". He will be missed by all his friends and colleagues, although he will always be remembered for his generosity and kindness.
Besides his wife Robin, he is survived by his parents, David and Stella (Belfer) Vasilevsky of Acton. A daughter, Sarah L. Vasilevsky, a sophomore at Westford Academy, Danial A. Vasilevsky an 8th grader at Stoney Brook School and Joshua A. Vasilevsky a 6th grader at Stoney Brook School in Westford. Father-in-law, Donald M. Fetzer of Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Several in-laws, cousins and many friends. He was the son-in-law of the late Shirley L. (Crabb) Fetzer.
VASILEVSKY -- In Boston after a lengthy illness. A graveside service for Alex will be held at the Temple Beth El Cemetery, Chelmsford to which all are invited, on Wednesday at 11 A.M. Please omit flowers.Donations in his memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445. The family will sit Shiva at their home, 5 Gooseneck Lane, Westford, on Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M. Funeral Directors, Frederick W. Healy and Walter F. Bayliss, Jr.
