Daniel Hines Obituary

Daniel Edward Hines, 47, passed away in Juneau, Alaska on Oct. 11, 2014 after a 9 month battle with brain cancer.

Born on Dec. 22, 1966 in Ketchikan, Alaska, he grew up in Ketchikan, graduating from Ketchikan High School and moving to Juneau, Alaska in 1989 working for Aero Services.

Shortly after that he began what would be a 19 year career with the CBJ Water Utility earning Statewide Operator of the Year Award in 2001-2002. Appointed to the Governors Water and Wastewater Utility Board by Sarah Palin in 2006, he was reappointed twice by Gov. Sean Parnell. He was currently employed by AEL&P as a remote communications technician where he worked until his death.

Dan had a passion for the Alaskan life and a sweet smile. A loyal friend to the end, he loved music, history, and the outdoors. He took every opportunity to ?sh, hunt and explore the islands of Southeast Alaska. He was a dedicated husband and father and shared his loves with his family.

Preceded in death by his father, William Earl Hines and cousin Shawn Sande, he is survived by his wife, Seanna O'Sullivan Hines, daughters Mia Margaret Hines, Tatum Aileen Hines and Lola Ann Hines, his mother Wendy Jo Tully and her husband Jon Tully, his brother Tim Hines and wife Kelle, his sister Pamela Klose and her husband Kurtis and step-sister Leslie Hines Cummings and her husband Alan. Aunts and Uncles Kay and Rich Andrew, Roy Hines, Jan Sande, Jeanne Sande and cousins Trevor Sande, Debbie Merle, Doug Andrew, and Tricia Andrew. And his nieces and nephews Jessica and Connor Hines, Caitlin Stephens, Devin,
Kassandra, Daniel and Natalie Klose.

Services for Dan will be at Chapel By the Lake on Oct. 18th at 4 p.m. with a Wake following at the Prospector Hotel. A Celebration of Life will also take place at a later date in Ketchikan.

In lieu of owers his family is requesting that any donations be made in his honor to Juneau's Cancer Connection, Hospice and Home Care of Juneau or Ketchikan's First City Council on Cancer.

His family wants to extend their gratitude for the huge support in both communities of Ketchikan and Juneau, of family and friends, his employer AEL&P and his union IBEW.

Prayers to you Seanna and the kids. And to all Dans family and friends. Which I'm sure are countless . My heart and thoughts are with u in this terrible time. So very sorry for your loss. I knew Dan when he first moved here and he was such a kind and gentle soul - not something always apparent in a young 20-something. The light of Jesus shone brightly in him in as he aged and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
