David Silva Obituary
Billerica Firefighter
DUNSTABLE -- David H. Silva, age 39, died unexpectedly Thursday, as the result of injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident in New Hampshire.
Dave was a devoted husband and father to his wife, Melissa A. (Newton) Silva and his beautiful children, Angela Kelley Silva and Richard Henry Silva of Dunstable. He loved them fiercely and placed them above all else.
Dave and his family enjoyed spending time in their second home in Freedom, NH but most of all they enjoyed just being together.
He was born in Melrose, November 6, 1975, the son of Henry and Karen (Hoskins) Silva, and lived in Billerica for most of his life before moving to Dunstable one year ago.
Mr. Silva was employed as a Firefighter for the Town of Billerica. He was appointed a firefighter in January of 2000 and served as the department SAFE (Student Awareness of Fire Education) and (Senior Awareness of Fire Safety) instructor.
Besides his wife, children and parents, Mr. Silva is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Koester and her husband, Erik of Wilmington, and Denise Brennan and her husband, James of Tewksbury; his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Liz Newton of Billerica; his sisters and brother-in-laws, Christine Crocker and her husband, James of Methuen, Cheryl Duffy and her husband, Michael of Derry, NH, Michelle Wells and her husband, Steven of Billerica, and Eddie Newton of Billerica; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
SILVA -- Of Dunstable, formerly of Billerica, by accident Feb. 5, David H. Silva. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica from 3-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at St. Theresa Church at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of the flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the David Silva Children's Fund, c/o TD Bank, 449 Boston Rd., Billerica, MA 01821. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica. Remembering Dave on this day and many times thru the year.... he was an outstanding young man , polite , courteous , respectful and so much fun to be with ! He was a great friend to many but my son Jason holds him dear as one of his closest buddies ! Every year they enjoyed going away with buddies for Super Bowl weekend and Im sure they will raise a toast in his memory this weekend!!! Loved him dearly !! With the holidays its not easy. I know I am the person with something always to say. Like it or hate it and usually at the worst time too. But Im working on it:) Yet NOW I find myself speechless. I know you and Rich listen and are together. That does not ease the pain for everyone here though. I guess I feel like Rich and you left so fast. So I feel I didnt get to tell either of you some things. I just always thought I would be up there first waiting on you guys. As days count down to Christmas I will honor you & Rich. Not by hiding from the joy of the holiday like I did for years after Rich crossed over but by celebrating with family & friends. I wish it didnt take for you both to go for me to get it. Im going to live more starting this year. I did the kayak in maine so maybe more of that. Lol I miss you guys but I know you want me to stop being sad and enjoy and love life. Everything Im brave enough to try I know you both are watching! Please watch over your family this is going to be an emotional month to get through. A big day tomorrow so I better say goodnight. Today my message is to Dave. With Father's day fast approaching I think of your family and the sadness they will feel in your absence. I always felt robbed that Rich never got the chance to find love like you did in Melissa. But now to see her and the children have to leave you trinkets at a cemetery. Well you get my point. I am now back to up all night asking WHY? Bad guys walk the streets while two of the nicest most amazing, TERRIFIC guys are taken from us. Its not fair. I thank you for keeping my brother alive in the naming of your children. I hope as they grow I will have the chance to spend time with them. Save a spot between you and Rich for me:) As long as I live you are both remembered. Rat

I had the pleasure of working with Dave before he went into the firefighting academy. He was a kind, conscientious, smart and dedicated employee. But what I will always remember about him was his humor. He always made me laugh. It was just so natural for him. My heart goes out to his family. Please know that although I only worked with him for a short time and not on a direct basis, he made a lasting impression on me as it seems he did with countless others.
