Joseph Frawley Obituary

DRACUT - Joseph F. "Joe" Frawley Sr., 76, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, at his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Sophia "Zos" (Szarek) (Wasylak) Frawley, with whom he celebrated their 28th anniversary on Nov. 29.

He was born in Lowell on April 25, 1926, a son of the late John P. and Josephine (Slattery) Frawley.

He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Frawley worked at Courier Citizen, Sullivan Bros. Printing and retired from Nadco Printing Co. in 1993. He also owned Nichols Fish Store in Lowell during the 1960s.

He was a member of the East End Club in Lowell and the I.P.P. GCU Local 109.

Besides his wife, survivors include four children, Kathleen (Frawley) Doyle and her husband James of Chelmsford, Marilyn (Frawley) Hoff and her husband Malcolm of Florida, Joseph F. Frawley Jr. and his wife Noreen (Wasnalas) of Pennsylvania, and Joyce (Frawley) Dyer of Dracut; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Veigle of Falls Church, Va., and Theresa Dixon and her husband Russell of Lincoln; a brother, Gerard Frawley and his wife Mary A. of Naples, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Georgia Frawley of Lowell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was also the brother of John "Jack" Frawley of Lowell, who died Sept. 14, 2001, and Thomas Frawley, who died Aug. 16, 1985; and the brother-in-law of the late Eugene Veigle.
