She was born in Lowell on Nov. 13, 1928, daughter of the late Clarence M. and Hazel (Warley) Bacon.
Before retiring, Mrs. Buckingham was a partner at the C.M. Bacon & Sons, General Contractors in Dunstable, and was the owner for 40 years of Buckingham Real Estate in Chelmsford and Westford.
She was a member of the Congregational Church in North Chelmsford. She was a volunteer for the March of Dimes, Cancer Fund and Heart Fund. Mrs. Buckingham was also a scout leader. She was the past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was one of the first women of the Greater Lowell Board of Realtors, according to family members. She was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, and enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods.
Besides her husbands, her survivors include five children and their spouses, David A. and Vada Buckingham of Norwich, Conn., Sheila A. and Rick DeCarteret of Beddington, Maine; Hazel E. Jenkins and James L. Jenkins of Richmond, Va., James E. and Cindy Buckingham of Webster, and Edward M. and Mary Buckingham of Westford; 11 grandchildren, Robbie Buckingham, Amy Cyr, Bonnie Wheelden, Lisa Tootill, Naomi Perlman, Ben Perlman, Thomas Buckingham, Daniel Buckingham, Melanie Sullivan, Kayleigh Buckingham and Trevor Buckingham; three great-grandchildren, Mikey, Ashley and Landon; many stepchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Harry M. Bacon, and George W. and Billie Bacon, all of Dunstable; a sister-in-law, Barbara Bacon of Chelmsford; several nieces and nephews; a former daughter-in-law, Karen Diodati of Chelmsford; a close friend, George Higgins; and clsoe friends at Lowell General Hospital, Geri Colburn, Indy Robles, Cammie Caron, Dr. Murat Anamur and Linda Gaetano.
She was also the sister of the late Alberton "Bud" Bacon.
