I went to college with Ray's son, Bill, and as fate would have it, ended up living in Sun Valley, ID for the better part of the past two decades.
Ray and Dottie were living here at that time too.
I worked in banking and had the privilege of having Ray as a client. I looked forward to the days that Ray would drop by my office to "see what's going on?"
Our time together often ended up in free-wheeling conversations. We'd talk about travel and family and life experience. A conversation about travel to Northwest Montana would elicit a question from Ray like, "you ever try those Flathead Lake cherries? Best damn cherries in the world." And of course, he was right.
Ray had done so much and accomplished so much in his life but he never bragged. It was only through little insights or observations that he shared his vast experience and knowledge. I always felt like a sponge.....and enjoyed taking it in. Another perfect example is that I knew Ray was a golfer, but only accidentally and while reading the names on a Sun Valley Championship trophy and then seeing Ray's name did I realize how good a golfer he was.
I started missing Ray the day that he and Dottie moved back to Dracut, MA.
Still miss him every day.
Much love the family.
