James "Jim" Harbart, 78, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 1:24 p.m. in Franciscan Health – Michigan City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. Private burial will take place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
He was born Dec. 19, 1945, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Wallace and Helen Harbart. On Oct. 25, 1969, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Judith L. Pawlick who preceded him Nov. 13, 2013.
Surviving are a daughter, Karrie Harbart of Trail Creek, Indiana; two sons, Kevin (Marla Bruns) Harbart of La Porte, Indiana and Kirk (Dawn) Harbart of Portage, Indiana; three grandchildren, Clara, Gabriel and Lillian Harbart all of Portage, Indiana.
Jim retired as an electrician at NIPSCO. He was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, Michigan City, Indiana and a life member of the Moose Family Center #980, Trail Creek, Indiana. Jim enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and woodworking. He also had volunteered operating the weigh scales for the Hoosier Coho Club fishing tournaments.
