Larry Dale Richardson, 71, of Chesterton passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2026. He was born on March 20, 1954, in Beech Grove, Indiana, to Edward Bruce Richardson and Jane Richardson, both of whom preceded him in death.
On Oct. 23, 1987, Larry married the love of his life, Julie (Morford) Richardson. They shared many happy years together until her passing in July 2015. Their bond remained a guiding light in his life.
Larry was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his children, Ron Morford, Krystal (Mark Jr.) Wert and Jenn Stephenson. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kaleb (Kami Hipp) Dilts, Heaven (Robert Baxley), Josh Wert, Mark III Wert, Symphony Wert, Sara Al-Ansari, Melody Stephenson and Nadia Stone. He was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Amara Baxley, who brought him immense joy.
He is further survived by his sister, Cathey (Marty) Jackson; his niece, Phaedra (Jason) Welker; and his great-nephew, Nicholas Welker.
Larry had a true zest for life. He loved traveling, attending concerts and especially birdwatching in the dunes with his grandchildren – moments he treasured deeply. He was an avid fan of the Indianapolis 500, the Chicago Cubs and the Indianapolis Colts, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his favorite teams. He also enjoyed playing in the Westchester Horseshoe League, where he built lasting friendships. Larry retired proudly as a union electrician, dedicating many years of skilled and dependable service to his trade.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, from 3 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, with a visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana.
