Lorraine Annette Sydow, 89, loving wife, mother and grandmother, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, at 6:34 a.m. with her family at her side in Rittenhouse Senior Living of Michigan City.
Private services will be conducted. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, Indiana, is handling arrangements.
Lorraine was born Jan. 24, 1935, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Marcellus and Julia (Karkiewicz) Piotrowski. On Jan. 9, 1954, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Albert Louis Sydow, who preceded her in death on May 24, 2024, after 70 years of marriage.
Surviving are son, Jerald "Jerry" Sydow of La Porte, Indiana; grandson, Brandon Sydow of La Porte, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special-friend, Carol Lykins of Michigan City, Indiana.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerome and John Piotrowski; sister-in-law, Viola Piotrowski; and her daughter-in-law, Debra Sydow.
Lorraine had worked at Carstens, and Maes Bridal Shop on Franklin Street, as the manager of Tall Gals Fashions, and at Carson Pirie Scott Bridal and Armstrong Jewelers in Marquette Mall. She attended St. Mary's High School, was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church and a past member of St. Mary's Rosary Sodality, St. Anthony Hospital Guild, and was a former St. Mary's Cub Scout den mother.
