Margaret H. Everly, formerly of La Porte, passed away on Jan. 24 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, Maine.
She was born on May 17, 1928, to Eugene and Elsie (Ulrich) Galloway of La Porte, Indiana. She married her high school sweetheart, Melvin Everly, in 1948. They were married for 63 years.
Margaret worked as a church secretary for 37 years., first at Immanuel Lutheran in Glenview, Illinois, and later at St. Andrew in Ellsworth. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Margaret was also devoted to her faith. She had a beautiful soprano voice, which she gifted to both of her churches as well as the Lutheran Choir of Chicago.
Margaret's husband preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, James R Everly of Trenton and Linda M. Everly of Brewer; her grandchildren, Jessica Creel (Daniel) of Cary, Illinois, Jeremy Everly of Goldsboro, Nicole Everly (husband, Jason Knowles) of Winter Harbor and Samuel Bova of Glenview, Illinois; her sister, Winifred Lambert of La Porte; and nieces and nephews, Donna (Greg) Schoof of La Porte, Susan (Scott) Harmon of La Porte, Mary and Margaret Lambert of Satellite Beach, Florida, Daniel Lambert of Colorado, and Debbie, Mike (Lisa) and Brian Van of La Porte, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol (Lenard) Vann of La Porte; grandson, Nicholas Bova; and niece, Kaye Lambert.
