Michael A. Draves, 84 of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022. He was born on Sept. 25, 1937, to Amel and Edna (Hueckstedt) Draves.
Michael retired as club steward from PRCU. He was a member of PRCU for more than 20 years. He started singing in 1960 with the Society & Preservation for The Encouragement of BarberShop Quartet Singing in America, and was active in many barbershop quartet groups, having won many competitions over the years.
On Nov. 16, 1957, Michael married Shelia K. York, who preceded him in death on April 18, 2003.
Surviving is a daughter, Tammy (John) Sneed of Walkerton, Indiana; a son, Michael J. (Kathy) Draves of La Porte, Indiana; a sister, Marcia Cargile of La Porte, Indiana; a brother, Richard (Sandy) Draves of La Porte, Indiana; grandchildren, Heather (Tony) Borden, Allen (Karly) Ament, Catherine (Zach) Saylor and Josh Sneed; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Amel Draves; and his wife, Shelia.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Ave., La Porte, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, with burial to follow at Salem Cemetery. Phillip St. John will officiate.
