Tyler McClure Obituary

Tyler Brandon McClure DeWitt Our beloved son, brother and friend left us too soon on November 16, 2008. Tyler was born on July 19, 1984 and lived most of his life in DeWitt, graduating from DeWitt High School in 2003. Tyler loved music and sports, but mostly he loved people and made friends wherever he went. He was creative, compassionate and sensitive with a joyful sense of humor. For Tyler, every day was an adventure to be lived. Tyler's philosophy of life is best described by paraphrasing from a poem that he wrote - "on the horizon shines a light from a boat, if my ship won't come in, then that is where I will swim. And, if I perish in the midst, then just look where I have been. Tell my story to others, let this wisdom help them ~ God won't live for you, only show you the light. Live your life to the fullest, take chances and fight." Tyler is survived by his mother, Leri McClure, father Michael McClure, and his brothers, Jason and Jordan McClure. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many, many friends. He will be forever missed by all of us. Visitation for Tyler will be held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, November 20 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI. Funeral services in celebration of Tyler's life will be held on Friday, November 21, 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer United Methodist Church 13980 Schavey Road, DeWitt, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the McClure family c/o Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 507, DeWitt, MI 48820, in memory of Tyler.

Leri:  I just learned of the death of your precious son and am praying for you!!  Such a loss is almost incomprehensible but I hope you can find some degree of solace in the love and support of family and friends.  God walks with you, dear friend, and so do those who love you!!

I, too, was absent from your life over the years. Please know that I always loved you, as I do all of my nephews. As for the times in the last few years that I was able to be near you, you always made me laugh. Your personality sparkled and I admired your drive and entrepreneurial spirit. I take comfort in believing, and I hope my sister does, too, that you are now wrapped safely in the arms of your Grandma Phyllis. There is no doubt in my mind that she was there to lovingly greet you the moment you left this world.
Love,
Aunt Jamie

I am very sorry about your loss Michael. A parent losing a child is the worst thing possible. I can't tell you it will get better because it NEVER does! I will promise you it does get easier. I have lived this for the last ten years and it is forever. Grieve as long as you need to and don't let anyone tell you when it is long enough, you will know. My thoughts are with you and know the pain you are feeling. I am so sorry, you should never have to experience this. Your boys are your life, that is very easy to see.
We are all there to lean on at keykert if you need it.

Tyler was a great person. He was always happy, nice and friendly. Whether we were working together or competing with each other he was always fair, generous, righteous and honest. Tyler was the type of person that could always bring out laughter and a smile. My thoughts are with Jason and all who have lost Tyler. May everyone find peace in their hearts in dealing with this unspeakable tragedy.
