Edmon Haddad Obituary

EDMON HADDAD Edmon Haddad, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Sept. 24, 2011, as a result of complications from congestive heart failure, surrounded by his family. He was born May 5, 1928, in Superior, Ariz., to Frank T. and Josephine Haddad. Edmon moved to Las Vegas in 1955 and married Penny Haddad, Aug. 6, 1967. He began his career in Las Vegas as a dealer at the Pioneer Club and later at the Desert Inn. In December 1959 Edmon, along with his beloved uncle, Woodrow V. Charleston Blvd. He would go on to establish Macayo Vegas as one of the most successful Mexican restaurants chains in Southern Nevada, ultimately opening a total of six restaurants throughout the Las Vegas Valley. In addition to Macayo Vegas, Edmon capitalized on the booming growth of the Las Vegas Valley by founding Fiesta Foods and State Restaurant Equipment with his beautiful sister, Nora, and dear brother-in-law, William B. Miller. Edmon is survived by his wife, of 44 years, Penny; daughter, Jennifer (Ted); son, Edmon (Andrea); daughter, Teresa (Lorenzo); and seven grandchildren, Brittany David, Lorenzo Fertitta Jr., Eddie Haddad, Niccolo Fertitta, Gabriella Haddad, Angelia Fertitta, and Jonathan Haddad. Edmon was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sister Nora Miller. Services will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

We are very saddened by Eddies passing. He was always upbeat and he made us all smile with his great wit and personality. He really cared about other people and that is rare nowdays. He was somebody that I loved to run into and see what he was doing, because he was always experimenting with golf clubs and the like, so you never knew what he was going to come up with. We will miss him. Our condolances to the family.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Haddad's passing. I worked for the Review-Journal for many years and sold advertising to Mr. Haddad for Macayo's Restaurants. I have good memories of Mr. Haddad, he was always kind to me and his ad copy was always ready when he said it would be. Tod Young
