HAROLD RAPP Obituary

HAROLD RAPP Harold "Harald" Rapp, 80 years old, joined His Savior Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at 2:35 p.m., at his home, with his wife, Darlene "Babe" Rapp, and family members present. Harald was born in 1935, Insterburg, Germany. In 1953, after living through the war, at the age of 17, he immigrated with his parents and three brothers to the United States under the provision of the Red Cross. Las Vegas was his first home in the United States. It is where he met the love of his life, Darlene, raised his family of seven kids, worked as a painting and drywall contractor, farmed and most of all planted churches, sang and led worship music in the services and spread the love of Jesus to many people. From hitchhikers to celebrities, Harald had never met a stranger in all his time there. When he and Darlene retired they settled for 10 years in Parowan in southern Utah and continued to reach out and love their community. While ministering there they helped to build Red Hills Baptist Church in Enoch, Utah, and served in many leadership and teaching positions. They also loved to sing together at church. Then they made the move to Sheridan, Wyo. to live closer to some of their children and grandchildren. Attending Sheridan Wesleyan Church they quickly fell in love with Wyoming and her people. Harald, known as Papa, walked regularly down Main St., had daily coffee with the guys at Java Moon and Red Velvet and enjoyed company at the library and senior center. He always sought others out and made them feel loved while he shared a big smile, his love of Jesus Christ and told them of heavenly things. He was preceded in death by his father, Ewald Rapp; mother, Marta Thielka Rapp; stepmother, Regina Rapp; sisters, Orsela Rapp and Renee Cameron Carroll; brothers, Dieter, Wolfgang "Freddie: and Gunter "Kirk;" grandbaby, Renee' Diane Rapp; and great-grandbabies, Curtis Rapp and Jakob Rapp. He is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Rapp; brothers, Manfred and Daniel Rapp; sister, Marianna (nee Rapp) Robbins, and their spouses; children, Harold Rapp, Richard Rapp, Teresa Law, David Rapp, Charley Rapp, Sara Anne Stahl and their spouses; 32 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was peacefully ushered into Heaven with many farewells that day and with prayers and singing of hymns by family members at his bedside. "What a joyous afternoon it was. To God be the Glory." Viewing will be 12:45-1:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, with celebration service following, both at the Sheridan Wesleyan Church. Donations may be made in Harald's name to the Sheridan Senior Center Memorial Program to pay for individual senior lunch tickets or The Sheridan Senior Center Memorial Fund for senior companion expenses, at 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801. Harold, I will always remember you always had a smile on your face. I remember a man of great faith and practical application of that faith. You will always be in my fondest memories.

Thank you for helping me with praying over my grandfather in his time of need. Truly, I am thankful I knew you.

We miss you, daddy. Thank you for the greatest gifts you could have possibly given...the knowledge to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the sweet love of a daddy, the example of a strong marriage that relies on God (59 years), the example of what it means to trust God in the darkest of days and do so joyfully. Your love was the sweetest example of living fully for Jesus. You will be sorely missed by many. I can't wait to hug you again someday...until then, we are living for Jesus as you exampled in your life. I love you, daddy! Your youngest...

So sorry to hear of Harold's passing. I remember the stories my husband Arkie told of him and Harold at Las Vegas High School. And then got to know him in Parowan. He was a good man.
