Irene Fitzgerald Obituary

IRENE FITZGERALD Irene F. Fitzgerald, 83, a homemaker, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 25, 2009. She was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Chicago, the second of eight children, and was a 30-year resident of Nevada. She quit school after the eighth grade to help support and care for her family. At the age of 16, she met and fell in love with Harold Fitzgerald from Lockport, Ill. He was in the U.S. Army and she traveled with him as much as possible. After the war they resided in Lockport and later in Joliet, Ill. They had three children during this time. In 1952, they moved to Rudolph, Wis., where they farmed for the next 13 years. They had four more children and started their own company selling dairy equipment. In 1978 they moved to Las Vegas where her husband, Harold owned his own business and she was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 56, years, Harold; grandson, Christopher Trickle; mother; father; two brothers; and two sisters. Irene is survived by her seven children, Barbara (Chuck) Trickle, Judith (John) Pendergast, Skeet (Sue) Fitzgerald, all of Las Vegas; Denise Fitzgerald of Washington, Mark Fitzgerald, Kevin (Keith Allen) Fitzgerald and Randy (Teresa) Fitzgerald all of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren, Tamara Trickle, Shane Eichhorn, Heather (Blue) Martin, Jamie (Karie) Fitzgerald, Nathan Mrochek, Dewey Fitzgerald, Anthony Fitzgerald, Donovan (Monique) Fitzgerald, Austin Fitzgerald, Keenan Fitzgerald, Brady Fitzgerald and Liam Fitzgerald, all of Las Vegas. Irene is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Tommy, Ozzyonna, Joelyn Hope, Cole, Justice, Kay-li, Shane, Christian and Connor. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, with service following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial to follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
