LARRY SIGGELKOW Obituary

LARRY SIGGELKOW Larry James Siggelkow left us too soon, on April 28, 2013, after living a very full life and touching so many lives along the way. He was born December 24, 1947 to his loving parents, Evan "Barney" Siggelkow and Edna Gwendoline Watts. He grew up in Garden City, Idaho and was very active in the Community Christian Center. Most of his teen years were spent working at the Royal Restaurant and Bradley Airfield to finance his love of flying. He earned his pilot's license on his 16th birthday and continued to fly his entire life. He was part of the first graduating class of Capitol High School and went on to further his education at UNLV, earning a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. During his college years, he flew for the BLM, then SW Natural Gas as their corporate pilot. In Las Vegas, he joined the police department where he proudly served for over 30 years in various capacities. He was instrumental in helping the police force integrate with aviation assets and spearheaded many of its penal transportation programs. Always known as a hard worker who possessed many creative and innovative ideas, he would take his natural entrepreneurial spirit and focus efforts on building one of the most successful charter airlines in the Las Vegas area. Larry retired in 2011 and returned to Boise, Idaho to be near his family and spend what he called his H-A-P-P-Y years fishing in his backyard, doing regular goose patrols, running on his favorite trails, and spending time with his beloved wife. Larry was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends and he was always putting smiles on their faces. He loved airplanes and hot rods and couldn't ever find a TV big enough to watch his Boise State Broncos. He lived life to the fullest and leaves behind a legacy of genuine kindness and generosity. Larry was a true gentleman and served as a genuine example of humanity to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be deeply missed. Larry is survived by his wife, Nancee Siggelkow; mother, Edna Siggelkow of Boise; sisters, Starr Johnson (Roy) and Susan Moore (Rendy), both of Boise; and brother, Garry Siggelkow (Maria) of Nampa, Idaho. Larry was very proud of his son, Langdon Siggelkow (Sharon) of Downytown, Pa.; his five daughters, Lindsay McFarland of Los Angeles, Lacey Fidel of Las Vegas, Melissa Bridenstine (Jack) of Sultan, Wash., Dr. Tequa Salehi-Rad (Reza) of Havasu City, Ariz., and Monique Spears (Joseph) of Aspen, Colo.; and his nephew, Major William Miles, U. S. Marine Corps. Larry is also survived by eight dearly loved grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will miss their Uncle Larry. Services will be 3 p.m., Thursday, May 9, at Canyon Ridge Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV 89130. Reception to follow at 5 p.m., at Vision Airlines in North Las Vegas. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made to Hope House, P.O. Box 550, Marsing, ID 83639-0550, (208) 896-4673. High Flight: "Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds, and done a hundred things you have not dreamed of; wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.... Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace where never lark nor ever eagle flew. And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand, and touched the face of God." John McGee. The next time you fly, be sure to wave to Larry.

Nancee and Family....
Larry was indeed a great guy. I will certainly miss him. Especially after all the aggravation we went through to get that airplane and spare engine! That last lunch we had together with Mel won't soon be forgotten, nor will the lunch you, Larry, and I had a couple weeks ago. We had some fun times
over the years, not to mention some interesting projects. Those will forever in our minds and Larry will be with us always.
My thoughts are with you and your extended family......

Dear Nancee and family- I am so saddened to learn of Larry's passing. He has been a patient in our dental office for around 20 years. I have enjoyed seeing him regularly for that whole time. I have loved seeing what a loving man he always was. He loved his family- always proud of his kids and he had such a sweetness about him when he talked about the love of his life, Nancee. He was always so kind. He was so happy to be in Idaho and loved everything about it there. I will truly miss him and hearing all about his life. He was a remarkable man. I feel blessed to have known him. My condolences to you all. Adrienne from Dr. Hale and Downey's office

With sympathy to the family.
I worked with Larry in Communications, July, 1973, when Metro was born...hectic period of time. Yet, we always found humor among the demands for service...A very good man, with an abundance of fine qualities.
