LILLIAN SAYCICH Obituary

LILLIAN SAYCICH Lillian K. Saycich, a longtime Las Vegas resident, passed away peacefully January 13, 2019, at the age of 93. Lillian was born May 10, 1925, to the late Rose Uhlir and Edward Kocina in Montgomery, MN. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1948 from Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. From 1945 to 1948, she was a student nurse in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She began her nursing career in 1949 in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps and later joined the U.S. Air Force Nursing Corps where she worked until 1954. From 1948 to 1949, she also worked as a Civil Servant at Bolling Air Force Base Hospital, Washington, DC. Lillian married Dr. John M Saycich June 7, 1955, in Montgomery. They lived in Rochester, MN and Missoula, MT before settling in Las Vegas, in 1961. One of her greatest joys came from her love of music. She was a member of the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society chorus for 32 years and a member of the choir at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church for over 30 years. Her passion for learning and higher education led her to return to school to earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 1983 at the age of 58. She also enjoyed traveling through Europe. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen and Dorothy; and husband, of 61 years, John. Lillian is survived by her children, Joan (Don), John, Jim (Rosanne), David and Suzanne; as well as 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be private. Condolences for the family may be offered on line at www.palmnorthwest.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society, 3950 Spring Hill Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89121, 702-451-6672.
