Kevin Baker

1969 - 2023

Kevin Edward Baker, 54, passed away on Sunday, 4-30-23 in Lapeer, MI. Kevin was born on 2-20-69 in Elmhurst, IL to George Baker (9-16-35 - 2-11-15) and Joan (Beatty) Baker. Kevin was a loving brother to Theresa Lynn (Baker) Carter and Jerome Carter Sr. (1-16-65 - 4-9-17), and an uncle to Geralyn (Carter) Grumley, Bryce Grumley, and Jerome Carter Jr. Blind from birth, Kevin attended Haitema Elementary, Schwarzkoff Elementary, and Eppler Jr. High, before graduating from Utica High School with the class of 1989. He was afforded many unique opportunities along the way, including ice skating with Dorothy Hamill! He enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts, swimming at Stevenson High School, and was even part of the Optical Illusions Ski Club at Pine Knob. Later, Kevin attended the Michigan Commission for the Blind in Kalamazoo, MI, as well as Macomb Community College. Kevin went on to do piece work at ARC, and became a member of the Macomb County Blind Bowling League. Always up for a good game, Kevin was a dedicated fan of the Detroit Tigers, and never missed The Price is Right. He loved listening to music, and could tell you when just about any song came out, and the name of the artist. Kevin will be remembered for his kindness towards all who were fortunate enough to know him. Kevin's family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 4, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery, Clay Township.
