Linda Parr Obituary

Parr, Linda, Texas born and had a great love of her ‘Grandaddy’, and still has many family members in Texas. She was the center of our family, whose absence can never be filled, but the memories and tradition she created will carry us forward including family dinners with no ‘children’s table’, so everyone was included. Wonderful mom, nana, sister, wife, friend and neighbor. She loved family and friend get-togethers. Great love of nature especially flowers. She believed that everyone and everything had a place on this earth. Two, four, and eight-legged friends in particular. Her lifetime of work included a completed daily journal beginning in 1967 continuing through 2015 with an unfinished 2016. Exemplifying what she thought was important in her life. She enjoyed a glass of sherry and loved sitting on the deck on a warm, windy day, and if a good rainstorm should come up she enjoyed it even more. She was an exceptional homemaker with a special touch when it came to cooking. And had boundless energy. She loved to play ‘Words with Friends’, crosswords and general knowledge games. She cherished calamari at ‘The Brewery.’ Mark Twain books were her favorite. Especially loved the ‘Mongos’ in Costa Rica and making life-long friends there. We are hopeful there is no ‘mall’ shopping wherever she may be - not her most favorite thing to do. She went peacefully at home surrounded by family who loved her. Survived by husband of 54 years, by Alan Parr; beloved mom of Kirsten (Darwin) Matthews, Craig (Amanda) Parr and Victoria (Frank) Dombrowski. Proud nana of Ivy, Daphne, Phoebe and Lola. Beloved sister of the late Donna, Brenda (Gary), Mike (Susan), Toni (Jackie) and Tom. Will be missed by nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial gathering on Sunday, March 13, 2016, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Gramer Funeral Home, Diener Chapel, 48271 Van Dyke Ave., Shelby Twp., MI 48271. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Animal Welfare Institute, 900 Pennsylvania Ave., SE, Washington, DC 20003 or Grace Hospice, 1985 Gratiot, Suite 2B, Marysville, MI 48040.
