Craig Sifton Obituary

Craig William Sifton passed away in his Felton home on July 9, 2005 at the age of 54. He had been fighting a very brave battle with cancer for the last year of his life.

A native of California, Craig enjoyed many of the characteristic that the state is known for. He was born in Los Angeles on Sept. 22, 1950 and spent the early part of his life there. He enjoyed surfing and making trips to the desert to ride dirt bikes. Craig's passion for riding his Harley Davidson found a perfect fit in 1970 when he moved to the Santa Cruz Mountains. He felt peace and serenity in the mountains and made them his home for the remainder of his life. Among his other interests where his 1949 Chevy that he was restoring and he regularly attended Hot August Nights in Reno.

Those who had the great fortune of knowing Craig knew a caring man with an amazing sense of humor and seemingly endless wealth of wisdom. The two things in life that he was the most proud of were his family and his work. Craig fathered two sons and was married to his wife for 25 years. He was the owner/operator of a successful well drilling business, Roman Well Drilling, since 1990. He took pride in everything that he put his name on and passed that virtue on. Craig was a retired member of the Ghost Mountain Riders Motorcycle Club which he was one of the original members.

Craig is survived by his parents Ernest and Yvonne Sifton, loving wife Debbie Sifton, sons James Sifton and Beau Sifton, daughters-in-law Jennifer Sifton and Sarah Sifton, brother Randy Sifton and sister-in-law Jenny Sifton, grandchildren Coleman Sifton and Emma Sifton and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park on July 16, 2005 at 1 pm. For information about the service call 335-9207.

When I first met Craig, he struck me as a "Clint Eastwood" type. I have to admit I was slightly intimidated by his presence, although there was never an obvious effort on his part to do so. It was the slow walkin', cool talkin', smoldering ambience that he projected that made me make a special effort to strike up conversation and scope 'im out. What I discovered was such a sweet, kind and polite man. Never treated me like one of the guys' old lady, he treated me like a person and took interest on an individual basis. Just a genuinely real and nice man. I never got to know him real well. My husband and I were part of a certain group, that included Debbie & Craig,we hung out with each other regularly, at one time. Memories of the times we shared will always be a quite significant part of our lives.
