Dorothy "Dot" Ross
Oct. 1, 1932 - Feb. 28, 2015
Hawkinsville, GA- Dorothy "Dot" Ross, 82 passed away Saturday, February 28 at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas AME Church with burial in Pine Bloom Cemetery. Rev. Adam Graham will officiate. She was the daughter of the late Louise Harris Nelson and Russell Harris Sr. She was a 1951 graduate of Hawkinsville High and Industrial School. Over the years she was employed by R. J. Taylor Regional Hospital, Taylor Memorial Hospital, Community Action Center (Phoenix Enterprise) before retiring after 26 years of service At the time of her death she was employed by the Pulaski County Government as a Bailiff. She was a member of the Board of Directors for Hawkinsville Housing Authority and the Pulaski County Department of Children Services. She was member of St. Thomas AME CHurch. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Harris Sr. and Louise Harris Nelson, a daughter, Louise Ross, a son, Andrew Ross and a sister, Minnie Harris.
Dot is survived by three children, Nicky Ross, Sandra Marie Marshall, John Robert Ross Jr. (Theresa) HAwkinsville; brothers and sisters, Russell Harrris Jr. (Christine) Terry Harris,(Antinette), Hawkinsville, Luvenia Lawson (Nathaniel) Newark, NJ Eugenia Sampson (Leroy) Hawkinsville, Deborah Harris Johnson, Warner Robins; 26 grandchildren, 43 great gandchildren, 2 great-gerat grandchildren, sister-in-law, Bernice Scott, Hawkinsville; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Tharpe Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. .
