Fran Ryland Obituary

Fran Ryland -MARY ESTHER, FL - Fran Ryland, age 60 passed away Wednesday, October 26th, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. Fran was born in Greenville, SC and grew up in Macon, GA. She obtained a BS from Auburn University in 1966. She then married the love of her life, Mick. Fran and Mick and their children moved to the Florida panhandle in 1983. Fran's professional career in this area included being a manager at Digital Equipment Corporation in Pensacola, an Allstate Agent in Destin, and a member of the Board of Directors of Brilliant Minds in Destin. -She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Elizabeth Squires Doughman and Thomas J. Doughman. -Fran is survived by her devoted husband, Charles "Mick" Ryland, daughter Michelle Fisher and her husband Harold and their children, Ryland, Kara, and Chaney of Destin; son, Mark Ryland and his wife, Teresa and their children, Justin and Jared of Navarre; sister, Charlotte Nolan of Macon GA and nephews: Jim Nolan of Ft. Payne, AL, Tom Nolan of Fayetteville, GA and Squires Nolan of Chesapeake, VA. Her in-laws are Julia Frances Boulware of Niceville FL, Bill Ryland of Deland, FL, and Cecil Ryland of Athens, AL. -She was a member of the Mary Esther United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and playing in the hand bell choir. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in her name to: Brilliant Minds, Old South Center, 36468 Emerald Coast Pkwy, Destin FL 32541, the Mary Esther United Methodist Church, 703 E Miracle Strip Pkwy., Mary Esther, FL 32569 or Covenant Hospice, Inc., 101 Hart St., Niceville, FL 32578. -The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the Emerald Coast Funeral Home on Racetrack Road. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10A.M. at the Mary Esther United Methodist Church on Hwy.98. A Celebration of Fran's life will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Mary Esther United Methodist Church following a graveside service. -"Frannie" touched the hearts of so many people in her life.
