I just saw where Harold passed away. He was bit tii far behind his friend Mary Heard who passed the 18th of February. They went to school together and I attended several of the reunions with Mama until last year when she was not able to go. The world will be a sadder place. He was a wonderful person and a good friend!

Good Man...Good Memories. Since his passing~I have been thinking about what Harold Clarke meant to me and my family. My auntie Annie Ruth Goodson Brantley worked for the Clarke family for most of her adult life. We use to go up to the Clarke's big house and play. As kids, we always got cookies and tea cakes and some little surprise to take home. Nora would always get us atleast one new dress for school each year. Harold was the first domestic employer to pay into a pension and social security for his housekeeper... Annie Ruth took care of the Clarkes until her health failed....Harold and Nora took care of Annie Ruth right up til her passing... Harold stood with Annie Ruth and her family through good times and bad...He was a fair, good and a kind human being who never placed himself above the rest of the world. It's no wonder he made it to the highest court of Georgia and now he is resting in the highest with the highest....RESPECT!!!

Justice Clarke was a true Southern Gentleman. In the early 70's, I had the opportunity to work at Clarke, Haygood, & Lynch one summer and I have wonderful memories of Justice Clarke.

May the entire Clarke family remember all the great memories. I also remember how Nora was the best story-teller ever of memories.

May God's Grace wrap all of you in peace.

I have fond memories of working with Justice Clarke for the first four years of my law practice before he became a justice on the Georgia Supreme Court. He was always the kind of lawyer I aspired to become. He will be greatly missed, not just for his judicial stature and wisdom, but most of all for the kind of man he was. Blessings to your family as you celebrate his life and mourn his passing.

He was high on my list of heroes, the perfect southern gentleman and one of the nicest people I have ever known. His work improving the system and content of justice in Georgia was unprecedented and will probably never be equaled. We will miss him, and we are indeed fortunate that he gave so much to us while he was here. My deepest sympathy to Nora and his family. Peace to you all.

Mr. Clarke, a contemporary of my parents, was a neighbor and constant presence in my youth. He used to take me to the floor of the GA Legislature and let me vote. The country needs many more men and women of his caliber. He spoke at my mother's funeral. We will miss him.
