Jack McAfee Obituary

Jack Lyman McAfee -THE DALLES, OR - Jack Lyman McAfee, 81, a resident of The Dalles, Ore. died at his home on Saturday, December 8, 2007. He was born in Macon, Ga. on February 21, 1926, the only child to Robert Kennedy and Nora Maude (Montgomery) McAfee. He grew up in Macon, and graduated from Lanier High School, in 1944. After high school he attended Arizona State University. He served in the Army Air Corps, U.S. Air Force, for 20 years, retiring in 1969. He married Eula "Lee" Coulter in Puerto Rico on Ramey Air Force Base on June 23, 1955. He had resided in The Dalles since 1974. He was a member of Cherokee Heights Methodist Church in Macon, The Dalles Fitness and Court Club for 27 years, National Racquet Ball Association, USA Racquet Ball Association, U.S. Air Force Gunners Association, VFW. He umpired, refereed and coached baseball and basketball most of his adult life. He participated in racquetball tournaments all over the USA. At one point, he was ranked No. 3 in nation in his age category. -He is survived by his wife, Lee McAfee, The Dalles; five children, 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. -A memorial service was held on Wednesday, December 19, at 2P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church in The Dalles. Burial was held in Willamette National Cemetery on Thursday, December 20, at 2P.M. with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
