Oh, and I forgot to mention that Joy made the best cole slaw I have ever tasted!

Hoppy, Harriet, David and Steve, I consider myself so very fortunate to have considered Joy a "dear" and wonderful friend. I am "thankful" that she brought all of you into my life too. Having known her for 35+ years, I have so many wonderful memories. Gosh, I can remember her, driving by, and calling my name, in her "special" way - Toneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and how can ever forget her taking the "wheel" of my new Mercedes and driving off in it. While, at the time, I was consternated, I am ever so thankful for the memory - it makes me chuckle! Truly, Joy was "Joy" to know.

To mimic Sabrina, "LOVE YA JOY!"

October 2, 2012

A family friend, Joy was always pleasant and entertaining. She was genuinely non-assuming, and was a very good friend to my sister Sabrina. It is so difficult to lose life at such an early age, but knowing that she is in a better place helps provide peace.

Hop, A Bible verse keeps popping in my head while thinking & praying for your family. Joy's name is so precious and perfect for her. Gal 5:22 reminds us that Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit, along with love, peace, patience, etc... We miss Joy so much for the joy she brought to our lives.

Hop, Steve, David, Harriet and family,
Joy was special and you will miss her physical presence but she will let you know when she is there with you. "It will be the little things that you will remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter. And although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things that help to push away the pain and bring the smiles back again." So many loving memories will comfort you. Beautiful words at the service. I love ya'll. Be at peace.

I have such fond memories of Joy, and although it's been years since I last saw her, these memories still linger. She was blessed with a heart of enormous proportion, a self assured determination to overcome any obstacle that might have tried to slow her down and a contagious love and laughter. She is now in the hands of God and resting, at last, in the arms of her mother. Rest in peace Joy.
