Byron, GA- Loretta Shaffer, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Houston Medical Center.
Loretta was born on May 23, 1938, in Pomp, Kentucky. She was employed by WIC for many years until her retirement. Loretta enjoyed playing the piano and organ her entire life. She attended the Moody Bible Institute, and was also the Pianist and Organist for Grace Baptist Church in Ohio for 31 years. Loretta, along with her husband, relocated to the middle Georgia area 15 years ago. They became members of Southside Baptist Church where she also played the organ. Loretta always enjoyed time spent with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Dwight Shaffer; father, Harold Caskey; mother, Edra Caskey Dearth; and stepfather, Gloyd Dearth, preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Renét Jackson (Dan) of Byron; Wendi Shaffer of Marion, Ohio; grandchildren, Adrianne Marsh, Zachary Marsh, Carli Roye (Travis), Andrew Lucas, Annaliese Jackson, great-grandchildren, Zachary Davie, Elizabeth Davie, Porter Shane, Brooklyn Roye, Noah Roye, Drew Lucas; brother, Gloyd Dearth, Jr. (Jeannie) of Delaware, Ohio; brother-in-law, Richard Shaffer (Karen) of McComb, Ohio; and Aunt, Ethel Perkins of Ligonier, Indiana.
Visitation with Loretta's family will be Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016 in the Chapel of McCullough. Following the service, Loretta will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, the late Dwight Shaffer, in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
