Polly Herndon Obituary

Gray, GA- Polly Greene Herndon, 63, of Greene Settlement Road, died Monday, February 10, 2014, in a local hospital. The family will greet friends from 1:00 - 2:00pm, prior to a 2:00pm memorial service on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Central Baptist Church in Gray. Rev. Tommy Jordan and Rev. Chris Dorrity will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Bradley Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Herndon, the daughter of Annie Ruth Jordan Greene and the late Andrew Curtis Greene, was born in Macon on March 12, 1950, and had lived in Gray all of her life. After completing her education, she worked with the Jones County Board of Education as a paraprofessional at Dames Ferry Elementary School. Mrs. Herndon was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church and in addition to her father, was preceded in death by her sister: Faye Greene Stewart.
Mrs. Herndon is survived by her husband: James Wallace Herndon; daughter and son-in-law: Lori Herndon and Clyde Haynes; sons and daughters-in-law: Devin and Cricket Herndon and Shawn and Melissa Herndon; mother: Annie Ruth Greene; grandchildren: Shelby and James Watkins, Dustin and Marissa Herndon, Lacy Herndon, Dylan Herndon, Bryson Herndon and a granddaughter soon to be born; brother-in-law: Bryan Stewart; niece: Stacy Stewart; and by her nephews and spouse: Andy and Lorie Stewart and Chad Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, the family that memorial contributions be made to Central Baptist Church, Post Office Box 187, Gray, Georgia, 31032.

Mrs. Herndon was a good teacher, she always encouraged me to do my best and be the best that I could be. She always had a smile and kind word for all the students at Dames Ferry. I will miss her.
