Anthony Rave Obituary

Anthony J. Rave

June 23, 1996 - October 15, 2024

Anthony James Rave of Madison, Wisconsin passed away on October 15,2024. It was an accidental death due to complications of alcoholism. We are grateful that he is in the arms of Jesus our Savior.

Anthony was born June 23, 1996, in Iowa City, Iowa. When he was three days old, he moved to Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He is survived by his sister, Michelle Rave, and his parents, Todd and Carol (Sieck) Rave. He will particularly be remembered for his love of sports, ideals, interest in politics, and sense of fairness. Anthony will be missed by a loving and supportive extended family.

Anthony attended St. Paul Lutheran School from preschool through 8th grade. He enjoyed St. Paul Basketball as well as Stevens Point Hoops traveling basketball. Starting in 4th grade with Youth Area Football, he developed a passion for football. He courageously dealt with a torn ACL repair that temporarily sidelined his athletics in 8th grade. He was confirmed in his faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church on May 22, 2011. He enjoyed St. Paul youth group activities and a mission trip to Guatemala. Anthony attended PJ Jacobs for 9th grade and SPASH (Stevens Point Area Senior High) for grades 10th-12th. Although he continued playing basketball through his sophomore year and ran track through his junior year, Anthony focused on football throughout all his high school years. In 2015 he graduated from SPASH as a valedictorian. He attended Marquette University graduating in 2020 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member and president of the aerospace club.

After completing a three month co-op in Mechanical Engineering and a short stint at Epic, Anthony realized that he wanted to explore other options for his life. Working in a management position at Chick-fil-A gave him the opportunity to develop his leadership skills while also giving him time to search for a "forever" job that would enable him to share his gifts and passions with the world.

Anthony enjoyed fishing in Canada with his father and joined the Muskie Club while they were fishing in Wisconsin. He had recently taken up golf, enjoying outings with his mom on the par three course across from his apartment. He liked challenging both parents as he corrected his swing from a baseball swing to a golf swing on 18 hole courses. He had a love of reading, and finished The Expanse series and was just finishing the Wheel of Time series. Anthony and Michelle (sister) shared a connection over current pop culture and used this to trounce their parents in board games when they were together for holidays.

Anthony saw many of the challenges that society is facing and wanted to make a difference. He loved to debate possible solutions and was passionate about civic engagement. Thus in lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated for St. Paul Lutheran Youth Group or Rock the Vote, a non-partisan nonprofit organization dedicated to registering and educating voters, especially young or new voters.

Visitations will be held at Boston Funeral Home, 1649 Briggs St., Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Friday, Nov 1, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. and at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1919 Wyatt Ave, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Saturday, November 2 from 9-9:45 a.m.

A celebration of Anthony's life in Christ will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 2, starting at 10 a.m. followed by Christian burial.
