Mark A. Laufenberg

June 13, 1957 - May 11, 2025

WAUNAKEE - Mark A. Laufenberg, age 67, of Waunakee, Wis., passed away at UW Hospital in Madison, Wis., on Sunday, May 11, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1957 to John (Jack) and Geraldine (Koch) Laufenberg in Sauk, Wis. He graduated from Waunakee High School, class of 1975. He worked on the family farm until 1995 and then moved to Waunakee.

Mark went on to work at Marquip Inc. in Madison. While working at Marquip Inc. he went back to school and received his diploma in Machine Tool Techniques from MATC graduating in 1998. He then went to work for Gilson in Middleton, Wis. as a machinist.

Mark enjoyed playing cards, bowling, softball, golf and spending time with his family and friends. His life was altered when he had his accident in July 2008. He became a volunteer with the Adaptive Fitness Program at the UW Natatorium from 2010 until present.

Mark is survived by his mother, Gerry Laufenberg; sisters, Linda (Jim) Helt and Cheryl (Kevin) Richards, and brother, Bob (Marlene) Laufenberg. He is also survived by his nephews, Eric Helt, Matthew and Mitchell Richards and Troy Laufenberg; and his niece, Lindsey Laufenberg. He is also survived by many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John (Jack) Laufenberg and nephew Dusty Helt.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St John's Catholic Church, 209 South St. Waunakee. Friends may call on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home 5785 Hwy Q Waunakee. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. A reception will follow at Rex's Innkeeper.

The Laufenberg families would like to thank all of his caregivers for taking care of Mark over the past several years. Their kindness and compassion made it possible for him to stay in his own home. We also want to thank Mark's relatives, neighbors and many friends for their support and assistance to Mark during his years of disability.

Mark, you will be missed and forever be in our hearts. Love always, Mom, Linda, Cheryl and Bob.
