Mark Schoon Obituary

Mark J Schoon passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2025 at his home outside of Cross Plains.

Mark was born on February 2, 1956 to Marjory (Ormes) and Milton Schoon. He worked for Madison Gas and Electric as a Key Accounts Manager for 36 years where he became lifelong friends with many of his coworkers.

He graduated from Janesville Craig High School and the UW-Stevens Point with a degree in Natural Resource Management.

Mark married Kristin Macdonald in 1982 and together they had a daughter Deanna Schoon.

Mark was an accomplished athlete playing first-string Fullback all through high school and college. He owned a second home on Butternut Lake in northern Wisconsin where he and Deb spent many days enjoying the beauty of the Northwoods and fishing the lake.

He was a faithful friend to many and had an unmatched wit and sense of humor. We could always count on him to provide comic relief.

Mark is survived by his significant other, Debra Granger; his daughter, Deanna Schoon and her mother, Kristin Schoon; and his brother, Michael (Vickie) Schoon. He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Sunday, November 9th at Remington's Bar and Grill in Cross Plains beginning at 2 p.m.

Mark, although we feel you were taken from us too soon, we know our omniscient God called you to be with Him in a realm too beautiful and free of pain for us to imagine. For that we are truly thankful.

Go with God Mark, until we are all together again in Paradise.
