Patrick Michael "Apps" Devine
Aug. 11, 1960 - Jan. 29, 2024
OSPREY, FL - Patrick Michael "Apps" Devine, Osprey, FL, age 63, passed away in Sarasota, FL, on Monday, January 29, 2024.
Our husband, father, brother, and dear friend was born on August 11, 1960, in Madison, WI, to James T. "Andy" Devine Jr., and Shirley Ann (Ballam) Devine who both passed before him. Patrick spent his childhood years in Madison, WI, attending Blessed Sacrament Parish School, Randall Elementary, Van Hise Middle School, and graduated from Madison West High School in 1978.
Much of his early sporting years were at Vilas Park in Madison - first as a speed skater, who when his Dad wasn't looking, snuck to the other side of the warming shelter to play hockey on his speed skates. Pat later played hockey for the West Side Flyers, as well as Little League baseball where he was the West Madison Little League home run champion. As a youngster he also became a National Champion at the National Speed Skating Championships. During high school he was a three-time hockey letter winner and earned All-City honors on multiple occasions.
While at West he also was an All-City Football quarterback for the 1978 State Championship football team as well as excelling on the West baseball team. Pat was a highly sought after recruit to play Division I football as well as Division I hockey. He eventually accepted a scholarship to the University of Notre Dame.
While he enjoyed his time at Notre Dame he eventually transferred back to his hometown of Madison, WI, where attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics.
Pat relocated to Sarasota, FL, where he began a career in sales for Pella Windows and met the love of his life Teresa "Tesa" Creighton. Pat and Tesa went on to be the proud parents of two active boys, Nicholas and Michael. Many days were spent at the beach with friends and family. Pat enjoyed watching and coaching his sons' teams through their many sport endeavors, but his favorite family activity was spending a weekend with his family at home in the "House of Devine" cheering on their favorite sports teams. The fact that Pat didn't have a specific "favorite" team just showed that he didn't care which team he was watching, he was just happy to be doing it with his wife and sons.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Tesa; sons: Nicholas and Michael; siblings: Jim Devine, Tim Devine, A.J. (Sandy) Devine, Ann (Dan) Davidson, Kathy Devine Winner (Rick), Mary Devine, and Colleen (Dennis) Koch; Jim Creighton (Cheryl), Chris (Karen) Creighton, Norene (Ken) Marlow, Jeff (Annie) Creighton, Brooke (Mikael) Lindsley, Andrew Creighton (Elizabeth), Dallas (Alexa) Marlow, Spencer (Sarah) Marlow, Kelley (Jesse) Coull, Garretson Creighton (Korea), Theresa (James Rowan) Creighton, Bob Creighton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were Pat's parents, Andy and Shirley Devine; his brother, Tom; grandparents: Jimmy and Patricia Devine, Grace Ballam, and Cyril Ballam; in-laws, GJ Creighton, Marjorie Creighton, and Bob Creighton.
You will truly be missed Patrick.

Pat and I were on Telephone Answering Service at west Madison little league. I remember when I was on base and he was at bat I would usually get to trot home because he would hit the ball out. Good friend. Bill B.
