Stuart "Stu" J. Butler

DEFOREST - Stuart "Stu" J. Butler, age 61, died peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from liver cancer, surrounded by his family at home.
Stu, the son of Patrick and Ruth (Cadwell) Butler, was born on June 5, 1961, in Madison WI.
He attended La Follette High School, and then continued his studies at Madison Technical College. Stu and his older brother, Hawley, created Butler Painting & Prefinishing, where he spent over 40 years serving the Deforest and surrounding area.
Stu had a wonderful life filled with a tight knit, loving family and close group of friends. He enjoyed his free time on the golf course, hunting, and watching Badger sports.
Stu is survived by his wife, Alice (Needham) Butler, married 34 years; children: Nathan (Allison) Butler and Preston Butler; granddaughter, Alaina Butler; mother, Ruth Butler; siblings: Julie (Bob) Wipperfurth, Hawley (Teal) Butler, Chris (Lisa) Butler, and Jodie (Jim) Wing; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Patrick Butler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert the Great Drive, Sun Prairie, on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Donn Heiar officiating. A visitation will be prior to mass at St. Albert's from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.
A special thanks to the staff at Agrace who helped care for Stu in his final days, and to Msgr. Donn for his thoughtfulness and prayers over Stu and the entire family.
