Dear Tim,
I am heartbroken that you are gone and that I will never see you again. I remember meeting you. You were attired in your favorite Nigerian batik shirt, having just recently arrived in the states. You wore it so often that, to this day, I always picture you in it - the beautiful blue patterns that fascinated me as a child.
You introduced me to tea, Guinness, mushrooms and, of course, fried bananas which you taught me to make. You told stories of mountain climbing and read aloud Never Cry Wolf to me. We talked about the war and politics and getting tear-gassed at the riots. The two of us built a huge snowman in Aunt Ginny´s yard one Thanksgiving. It was grand knowing you, Tim. Thank you so much. I will miss you terribly.

I am very saddened by the news. Tim was my favorite professor and Plants and Man was my favorite class. 40 years later I still talk about it and remember things that I learned. Also, who can forget office hours at the Union and drinking a yard of beer? Rest in Peace!
