Richard Allan DeVries
May 5, 1957 - October 15, 2021
Richard Allan DeVries, 64, of Twin Falls, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on October 15, 2021, after a short battle with ALS. Richard was born in Detroit, MI, on May 5, 1957. Richard and his twin sister, Debbie, were adopted at age four by Allan and Ursula DeVries. They were raised on a farm south of Twin Falls. After graduating from Twin Falls High School, he attended CSI's Diesel Program. Rich worked for several trucking companies and was a Master Tech. He also spent time in Saudi Arabia and Antarctica working on large machinery. Rich always returned home to work on the family farm. On December 27, 2002, he married Jackie Petersen of Boise, Idaho. They met because of their love of Hawaii. Rich was a wonderful grandfather to his two grandchildren, Lexi and Blake and he loved them very much. He spent a lot of time playing and singing songs with them, he also taught them how to set water with siphon tubes. Lexi and Blake became very good at it and helped Rich every year on the farm. When Rich became ill, they helped a family friend farm so we could get the crop up for the last time. Before Rich was diagnosed with ALS he took the family to Maui for a wonderful vacation for two weeks, we are thankful we got to spend such a special time with him. Rich was preceded in death by both his parents, Allan, and Sue. He is survived by his sister, Debbie, his wife, Jackie, his grandchildren, Lexi and Blake and his stepdaughter, Holly. We want to thank Hospice Visions for taking such good care of Rich during the past several months. We also want to thank Larry Barksdale for taking time from his summer to learn to farm so we would still get our hay up. And a special thank you to Holly for moving from Boise to care for him so he would have round the clock care. Per Rich's request there will be no services.
