Irene Jarocki Obituary
Irene S. Jarocki, longtime resident of 321 Woodland Ave., Farrell, entered into eternal life on August 8th, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital, by coincidence, the same hospital where she was born on June 11, 1931, to Leo J. and Marie Irene (McCue) Schmitt. She was a 1949 graduate of Perry High School, Pittsburgh.
A proud Pittsburgher for her first 21 years, Irene moved to Farrell, PA in 1952, and married John J. Jarocki after meeting him at a USO event in Pittsburgh the year before. For nearly 70 years, Irene was the heart of the Jarocki Family home on Woodland Ave. until 2023, when she moved to an apartment in Moon Twp. where she resided until her passing. Irene, like her husband John, lovingly sacrificed for their boys throughout their lives and modeled a strong Catholic faith, which they both practiced their entire lives.
Irene was a longtime member of the former St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell, while also attending Mass at St. Anthony's and Our Lady of Fatima churches.
She was a proud mother of five Eagle Scouts, whom she would do anything for. Irene's happiest and most fulfilling times were spent in her gardens, reading in the breezeway, playing backgammon with her sons and cards with her many friends throughout the Shenango Valley. She enjoyed vacations and overnight getaways with her family and was always ready for an adventure. Irene faithfully exercised at the Hermitage YMCA three days a week after early morning Mass at Fatima for over 20 years. Additionally, Irene volunteered for nearly 40 years, at the CLSV Stey Nevant Branch Library, Farrell.
She is survived by five sons, John Joseph, of Farrell, Mark Joseph (Nancy), of McKees Rocks, PA, Michael Joseph (Marina), of Santa Clarita, CA, Terry Joseph (Kim), of Farmdale, OH, and Lee Joseph (Diane), of Willoughby Hills, OH; and a special "son," James Gunesch. Also surviving are twin brothers, Carl and Paul Schmitt; ten grandchildren, Jill, Tim, Sally, Katie, Elizabeth, Zack, Audrey, Joseph, Christopher and Rose; and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, John; two brothers, Leo and Jim Schmitt; two sisters, Marie Jean and
Dorothy; a daughter-in-law, Dawn; and a grandson, Ben.
