Karen Jeannettra Owens Whatley

Karen Jeannettra Owens Whatley, 72, of 4110 Triana Boulevard, Huntsville, AL, departed this life Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at her residence, following a cardiac arrest. She was born December 6, 1951 in Warren, OH, the daughter of Charles and Grace Lee Edington Owens Sr., residing in the area for 10 years, coming from Warren. Karen was employed with Sanmina SCI Corporation for 10 years as a Saterer. She also worked for American Welding Corp as a Welder for 22 years, Pine Industries and Autumn Hills Nursing Home as an Aide. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and enjoyed watching movies. She leaves to mourn two sons, Keith (Hope) Holley of Niles, OH and Astron Ren Whatley of Painesville, OH; one daughter, Ms. Latrice Houston of Huntsville, AL; her mother, Ms. Grace Lee Edington of Masa, AZ; six brothers, Charlie Owens Jr. of Warren, OH, Robert Owens of London, England, Dwight Owens of Warren, OH, Ivan Owens of Scottsdale, AZ, Jeffrey Owens of Las Vegas, NV and Lester (Erika) Owens of Masa, AZ; three sisters, Ms. Judy Owens of Akron, OH, Ms. Chinita Owens of Columbus, OH and Ms. Kim Owens of Masa, AZ; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father; one daughter, Ms. Christal Holley and one sister, Ms. Erika Wells. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 19, 2024 at 12:00 noon, with Calling Hours from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
