Richard Rogers Obituary

BANGOR -- Richard A. Rogers, age 41, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

He was born April 25, 1970, in Skowhegan, the son of Gaylon E. and Pamela J. (Bickford) Rogers.

He attended Westbrook High School and graduated in 1991. Richard worked at the L.C. Dill Center and was a member of the Special Olympics. Richard had many hobbies and interests including dancing, writing, singing, fishing, four-wheeling, slots, WWE, parties and the Special Olympics.

Richard is survived by his mother, Pamela (Bickford) Vanorse of Rockland; father, Gaylon Rogers and fantastic stepmother Sharron Rogers of Norridgewock; three brothers, Bill Damon and wife Jen of Stonington and Norridgewock, Chad Pomelow and wife Debbie of Wasilla, Alaska, and Todd Pomelow and wife Tanya of Fairfield; four sisters, Linda Damon of Canaan, Beth Pearl and husband Ed of Rome, Jody Coombs and husband Mike of Skowhegan, and Shelli Rogers and Shanna Brown of Norridgewock; special nieces Mel Damon and Beanie Damon; nephews Billy Jr., Cody and Travis Coombs; special friend "Porker"; special aunts Paula and Debbie; uncles Bill, John and Merle Lewis; and many other family and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Fern Lund and Margaret Rogers; grandfathers Lauris Bickford and Payson Rogers; stepfathers Ira Damon Jr. and Harold Dodge; brother Ira Damon III; and a cousin, Jake Brown.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Sunset View Cemetery in Norridgewock.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Ricky Rogers' name to Special Olympics, c/o Skills Inc., P.O. Box 65, St. Albans, ME 04971.
