Joyce Sirois Obituary

Joyce M. Sirois, 75

SCARBOROUGH - Surrounded by the love of family, Joyce passed away peacefully at the Gosnell House on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, from complications of cancer. She will be remembered for her beautiful kindness and the joy that she brought to anyone who met her.

Joyce was born to Romeo and Pauline (Bowden) St. Pierre of Augusta on Feb. 8, 1943. She attended Augusta schools and graduated from Cony High School.

On May 14, 1966, Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Wilfred J. Sirois, whom she met in Kindergarten. Married for 50 years before Wil passed, their unconditional love for one another was inspirational to all who knew them. Together they raised two children, Jon and Amy, who feel grateful to have had such loving and caring parents.

Joyce excelled in several administrative positions throughout her career before retiring from Hannaford Bros. Her true calling, however, was caring for her family. Filling their days with amazing home-cooked meals, warm chocolate chip cookies after school and birthday parties that today's Pinterest lovers would swoon over, there was nothing she wouldn't do for her family.

Joyce was also passionate about home decorating, crafting, cooking and gardening. When husband Wil was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, she channeled those passions into spearheading the successful "Homes For Hope" fundraising house tour to benefit Parkinson's research.

Predeceased by her beloved husband; her parents; and brother Denny. Survived by her son Jon and wife Julie of Buxton, daughter Amy and wife Tracy of Scarborough, sister Brenda Gross and husband Ron of Randolph, brother Robert St. Pierre and wife April of Augusta; and one grandson, Connor, a student at UNE whom she was endlessly proud of.

Joyce's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Louise Nichols, Brenda Gross, Kellie LaPlante and Jan Duffy for the loving care and support they gave their mom as well as to the kind and compassionate staff at the Gosnell House and Hospice of Southern Maine. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, Aug. 28 from 4-7 p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 US Route 1,
Scarborough.

Ted and I send our sincere sympathy to Joyce's entire family. We just learned of her passing while at our summer camp on Sebago Lake. We always enjoyed Joyce and Wil. They were a really special couple. Having lived on Lilac Lane too we got to know them quite well. We only wish we could have seen more of Joyce after our move to Piper Shores five years ago. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Connie and Ted Tibbals

I feel so fortunate to have met Joyce in this last year. She was truly a lovely person, and a joy to get to know. She will be missed. Her smile was contagious, and her sense of humor priceless. She always stayed positive, and was very happy to have such a loving family and circle of friends.

She will be missed.

Our most heartfelt sympathy to Joyce's entire family, to her brother Bob, sister Brenda a.k.a. Bunny and her family, to her son Jon & wife Julie, and to their son Connor, Joyce & Will's one and only grandson, he was so loved and they were so proud of him and to her daughter Amy and her wife Tracy, and the entire extended family. I have many many memories of our childhood years, growing up as cousins as our dads were first cousins, the house/farm on Cony road, the High School years, and when Will & Joyce lived in Brewer we connected again, and due to Will and Bob both having Parkinson we connected again when we moved to Portland. A beautiful and lovely couple who cared so much for each other and their family and friends. I am thankful and grateful to have had a part in their lives. RIP Joyce, my cuz one of the sweetest people I know...

Sirois Family, we lost two special people Wil and then Joyce too soon. As a lawyer I knew Wil as a Banker for a long time, always a very bright and helpful Gentleman. Jerry, Eric, Bill and I would have coffee with Wil after that awful illness kept Wil from Banking, yet Wil still had his sense of humor, then when I joined Kiwanis I found how much Joyce and Wil had done for so many years to make our Scarborough Kiwanis so responsible for helping children worldwide. Knowing Joyce and Wil are nowagain together is significant for all they did for friends and community, we all hold memories of them dearly! Dick Cervizzi
