I was so sorry to hear of Peter's passing. May the memories of his smile and good nature warm your hearts in the days to come. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Though I had not seen him in several years, he has left an indelible mark on me and on the recreation department. Peter helped set up the soccer goals for the 1982 soccer season, and I remember laughing when I saw that he used inner tubes as the top rail! I read the other entries before starting to write; what a trip down memory lane. So many familiar names of people I have not thought of in years. He brought us all back together. Ride on...

I have many fond memories of Peter and the bike shop:his teasing humor, my awesome, sparkling Univega 10-speed, the quirky thinking, adventure, and laughter he shared, recognized and encouraged. Peter made Kennebunkport a kinder and more spirited place to live for so many.

Thirty years ago when one of my best friends, Karen MacGregor, told me she had met a really great guy, I could never have imagined how her life was going to be enriched. Peter was the man who answered her love of travel with equal passion, her desire to live a meaningful life with equal commitment and her dedication to be a wonderful mother with equal devotion to be the best father possible. I'll never forget the birth announcement he crafted when his pride and joy, Mac, was born. I met Peter only a handful of times but I can honestly say he was one of the most genuine, energetic and principled men I have ever met. Rest in peace, Peter, knowing you were loved and admired by many.

I will miss a dedicated and unusually honest and straightforward man. The lives of countless "two wheelers" were enriched by Peter's vision and effort.

Karen and Mac: Peter was more than a great bike man, but a true friend to me and my kids, Kate and Pete. He was one of the very first to welcome us to Kennebunkport in very early days and we remained Fairport Convention friends for life. I have missed him for several years already. Very fond memories. We are all thinkingof you. Phil Tilney

Peter was one of those special people who make the world a little brighter. I remember his wit, his smile and his righteous energy and am grateful he was part of my ( and my family's) Kennebunkport years.

Our family is terribly saddened to read of Peter's death. For all his many civic contributions to Kennebunkport, for which everyone is grateful, for us as parents of three children growing up there, it was his welcoming and his support of the hundreds of kids who bought their bikes and hung around him at Cape - Able. He was always cheerful, full of encouragement, often dispensing his pearls of wisdom to all those kids who just lapped up his warmth. He leaves us and our children with a tremendous bank of wonderful memories. He will always remain the "Johnny Appleseed" of bikes in York County.

Our kids, Mike and Amy, would get their new bikes as they outgrew the older ones. Peter cared. And we loved him for that.

My sincerest condolences to you, Karen, Mac and family. I still can recall the day that I was given a new "Basketball Orange" 10-speed...Peter painted it for per my mother's request. I rode that bike everywhere and one of my stops would always be Cape-Able just to see him smile. He was a great man and his life was forever full of love, admiration and joy for his family, friend's and community. Thank you for enriching all of our lives...one pedal at a time.

Dear Karen and family. I have many fond memories of Peter. Arriving on his bike to officiate a dear friend's wedding, to fitting my son to bicycles as he grew, to our teasing about our mothers and their beloved PEO organization (a wonderful organization). Rest in peace Pete.

Many days spent in his bike shop in the summers both in Cape Porpoise and the Port. I was probably more of a nuisance than anything else but he never treated me like that. I built my first bike thanks to him. Thanks Peter
