Sylvia Garthe Obituary
Sylvia grew up in Gorham and attended local schools. She enjoyed a career as a spinner in the textile industry and as a Certified Nurse's Assistant. Sylvia was a dedicated member of the Park Avenue Church of God where her church family meant everything to her. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her tough personality.
In addition to her parents Sylvia was predeceased by her son Michael Brackett; brother, Larry Brackett; and sisters, Madelyn Hunnewell, Betty Lewis, and Judith Gibson.
She is survived by brother Russell Brackett and his wife, Susan of Gorham; grandchildren, Tammy, Michael, Shane, and Chelsea; and five great-grandchildren; and her aunt, Doris McConihe, who was always there for her.
Sylvia's family would like to thank friends Lisa and Fran and the staff of the Barron Center for their care of Sylvia, during her final days.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday November 23, at the Gorham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 76 State Street, Gorham. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the service. I remember vividly the last time I saw Sylvia almost a year ago and our very heartfelt discussion about The Lords Mercy, and the just rewards awaiting us all. It is with profound sincerity that the entire Garthe family expresses our relief at Sylvias' passing and we take comfort that she now resides in that special place in her afterlife that we are so sure closely resembles the impact she had to many here in this earthly place.

I remember Sylvia through her son Mike. Mike was a good friend, his loyalty unquestionable. My condolences to TJ and Mike Jr. No words can heal hidden pain but I hope my condolences will give you a little peace.
