Marjorie Doris Jensen

1933 - 2021

Marjorie D. Jensen, of Beaumont at Bryn Mawr, passed away on May 11, 2021 after a brief illness. She was 87. She was born Marjorie Doris Brown in Oak Park, Illinois, June 25, 1933, to parents Norman and Doris Brown. She grew up in Park Ridge, IL with her older brother Richard Brown. Most who knew her called her Marj. Marj attended Iowa State University in Ames, IA. She was active in her Pi Beta Phi Sorority, marching band, and orchestra. She graduated in 1955, with a degree in Journalism. Soon after graduation, Marj worked for Rohm and Haas in Philadelphia. For most of her career, Marj worked as an independent Technical Publications Consultant; mostly through her own company WordSolutions, Inc. It was in the woodwind section of the Orchestra, at Iowa State, that Joel and Marj met. Marj on the Bassoon and Joel on the Oboe. The spring of 1955 they became engaged and, on March 23, 1957, she married Joel Erik Jensen of Mason City, IA. A move to Bedford, MA, then 2 years in Mexico after which they settled in Lexington, MA with their four children. In 2000, they relocated to St. David’s, PA, where they lived for 17 years before moving to Beaumont at Bryn Mawr in 2017. Throughout her life, Marj enjoyed traveling, sewing, baking, canning, singing, puzzles, and playing the piano. Most recently she was involved with The Canny Ladies, The Wayne Presbyterian Church choir, the Beaumont Chorus, and the Valley Forgers Investment Club. Marj is survived by Joel E. Jensen, her husband of 64 years, and her four children: Erik Jensen, Tina McCambridge, Matthew Jensen, Sarah Johnson, and four grandchildren.
