William Barcley Lex Jr.

William Barclay Lex Jr. of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania passed away on February 27, 2013. He was born March 14, 1924 in Philadelphia to William Barclay Lex Sr. and May Butler Lex. Having grown up in Strafford, Pennsylvania, he was an alumnus of Episcopal Academy and attended Yale University before entering the United States Air Force as a Gunner during the Second World War. He married the late Mary Lee Hillhouse in 1945, with whom he raised and showed Collies and frequently traveled on cruises. They welcomed their daughter Constance Gardner in 1961 and son John Barclay in 1962. Bill worked for the Philadelphia Life Insurance Company for many years before becoming Senior Vice President. The couple were avid bridge players and spent many winters in Delray Beach, Florida. Bill was a longstanding member of the Merion Cricket Club, the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the Revolution, and the Society of the Cincinnatti. Bill is survived by daughter Connie Powers and three grandchildren; Lex Powers, Heather Powers, and Nicole Lex.
