Karl was such a good friend to my dad for as many years as I can remember. He was like the funny uncle who would pop in with a smile on his face. We were so blessed to have his light in our lives for so many years. My prayers are with his family and friends. He will be missed.

Anne, Kiel and Jana,
Thanks for sharing Karl with the Tam Valley community. I treasure the ten years I spent working alongside him as a volunteer firefighter. He was a good man and an exceptional leader.
You have my deepest sympathy for your loss. I hope and pray that you can find some comfort in the words of encouragement from your friends and family.

I was fortunate to be a part of Karl's life as his one-time daughter-in-law. I greatly appreciate the love and caring he showed me during the 16 years I knew him. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and showed such a sense of humor even when he was very ill. I saw him a couple of weeks ago and before I left, he told me, "Make sure those boys (his grandsons) turn out to be good citizens." Their lives will be less full because he can no longer be a part, but he set a good example and I know he has been an positive influence on them. We will all miss him.

Anne....My true friend and sister in law....Jana & Kiel...my niece and nephew who all have lost a wonderful husband, and father.
Karl loved his family so much. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his world. What a wonderful world this would be if everyone had a man like him in their life.
Karl and I would have these little chats on the phone, and no matter how bad my life was going at the time he made me laugh with his unique humor, and anyone who knows him will understand that.
When he got sick I kept telling him that I loved him, and I think he got tired of hearing it when he said "I believe you".
Karl...you will be missed by all your family members, and friends, but never forgotten.
Just one more thing....
I LOVE YOU!
Karl and the one that didn't get away.

I'm thankful that a business trip sent me to San Francisco a few years ago and Anne and Karl invited me to stay with them in Mill Valley.
Karl made me crepes, bought me Japanese beer, showed me the home of George Lucas, introduced me to Animal Planet’s Funniest Animals, picked an orange from a tree for me to take back home where oranges don’t grow on trees, and gave me memories that I still cherish today.
A few months later while Anne and Karl were visiting Jana in Auburn, they invited me to attend the wiener dog races with them. I’m not sure which was funnier, watching those little dogs run across the track, or watching Karl try to sneak treats to my little dog without being caught. I also remember talking fishing with Karl. Having limited experience myself, he gave me advice on how to find the right equipment and where to go. The highlight of our talk, however, was when he pulled out a photo of him with a 212 pound fish he had caught. I'm sure there was more to the story, but I don't remember it, still in awe at the size of that thing.
I was so worried I wouldn't have enough to say here, but as I ramble on, I realize, you didn't have to spend much time with Karl at all to appreciate all he had to offer. I will miss him.

Karl was a kind and gentle man who was highly respected as a fellow businessman and competitor in the auto upholstery business. His values and ethics were the best I’ve ever seen. He will be missed by all.
